The old law is outdated. We need to protect chaplains of all faiths. My bill will not force beliefs on anyone. It protects chaplains from violating their conscience. It lets soldiers find spiritual care for their faith. It will have accountability for retaliation against chaplains. We need to protect chaplains so they can serve our troops.”

“I want the Department of War to write a plan for how they could reduce the number of civilian workers. We would not actually reduce the workforce by 200,000. We just want a study. The Department already offered some workers money to leave. They should not have done that with some of them. The workforce is already smaller by 65,000. Some people say that some government workers do not work hard. That happens in business too. I think it might happen more in government. I am surprised that people do not want the Department to do this study.”
