Ensuring Federal Purchasing Efficiency Act

The House debated H.R. 7283, the Ensuring Federal Purchasing Efficiency Act, which would require the Federal Acquisition Regulatory Council to adjust certain federal purchasing dollar thresholds, such as the simplified acquisition threshold, for inflation every three years instead of every five. Supporters, including the bill’s sponsor and members from both parties, said the change would keep federal purchasing rules current with rising prices, reduce paperwork for agencies and contractors, save taxpayer money, and make it easier for small businesses to compete for federal work. Members spoke in support throughout, and no opposing arguments were raised in the sampled statements.Written by AI from the debate. Updated .

“I support this bill. Right now, the government updates its buying limits for inflation every five years. This bill changes that to every three years. It will help the government buy what it needs, make bidding more competitive, and save taxpayer money.”
Official Congressional Record

Mr. Speaker, I yield myself such time as I may consume. Mr. Speaker, I rise in support of H.R. 7283, the Ensuring Federal Purchasing Efficiency Act, as well. Every 5 years, the Federal Government adjusts the dollar limits that they pay for certain goods and services to reflect inflation, and this bill would simply make it every 3 years. It will help ensure that the government can purchase what it needs. It will also make the government bidding process more competitive with the private sector, and it will help us get more value for our taxpayer dollars. Mr. Speaker, I urge my colleagues to join me in supporting this bill, and I reserve the balance of my time.
