Calling for Shutdown of Dilley

Members spoke on a call to shut down the Dilley family immigration detention center in Texas. Representative Luz Rivas described a visit to the facility during the August work period, saying more than 500 people, including pregnant women and infants, were held there in what she called inhumane conditions. She argued children should not be detained, called for Dilley to be closed and for ICE to be abolished, and also criticized Republican policies on costs for working families, including food, healthcare, and childcare.Written by AI from the debate.
