Making Technical Amendments to Title 49, United States Code, as Necessary to Improve the Code

The House considered H.R. 4523, a bill making technical amendments to Title 49 of the U.S. Code, which covers federal transportation law, including the Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement Financing program. Representative Onder, who sponsored the bill, said the changes fix wording and clarity without changing what the law does. Representative Raskin said the bill makes technical corrections following the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and no substantive changes, and urged support. Members of both parties asked for the bill’s passage.Written by AI from the debate. Updated .

“I want the House to pass this bill. It fixes technical wording in federal transportation laws to keep the text clear and accurate. It does not change what the law does.”
Official Congressional Record

Mr. Speaker, I yield myself such time as I may consume. Mr. Speaker, I rise today in support of my bill, H.R. 4523, which provides technical corrections to Federal transportation law related to the Railroad Rehabilitation and Improvement Financing program. The meaning of the law remains unchanged. It simply improves the statute for legal clarity and accuracy. This is part of Congress’ role in providing revisions to the code to account for new laws passed by Congress and additions or changes those laws make. It is a simple and straightforward measure that ensures the United States Code reflects the most up-to-date information. I encourage my colleagues to support this and other technical corrections bills on the floor today. Mr. Speaker, I reserve the balance of my time.

Mr. Speaker, I yield myself such time as I may consume. The legislation makes a variety of technical corrections to title 49, following enactment of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, but it makes no substantive changes. Mr. Speaker, I urge everyone to support the bill, and I yield back the balance of my time.
