Mr. Speaker, Procedure · 9 wordsI yield myself such time as I may consume.Procedure Mr. Speaker, Claims · 182 wordsH.R. 4465 makes technical corrections and updates to the United States Code.1 The bill was prepared for the Judiciary Committee by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel, a nonpartisan office of the House of Representatives charged with maintaining the official United States Code.2 In 2022, Congress enacted a positive law restatement of certain laws that were previously contained in the appendix to title 5 of the code.3 That restatement had a cutoff date of October 19, 2021, meaning that changes to the affected laws made after that date and before the enactment of the 2022 restatement were not included in the restatement.4 Congress enacted several changes to title 5 between the 2021 cutoff date and the enactment of the 2022 restatement.5 H.R. 4465 accounts for these changes by updating the 2022 restatement to include them. This bill does not change the substantive meaning of any laws on the books.6 It is simply about Congress finishing its work and incorporating these changes into title 5. Adopting this bill today will help ensure that the code is up to date, accurate, Vague promiseand accessible.
