Honoring Kenny Cox

“I am sad my friend Kenny Cox died. He was a good firefighter. He did a good job for a union for many years. He got a medal. He cared about firefighters and their families. He is dead now. His wife and daughter are also dead. I am sad for his family. I hope his memory is a good thing for other firefighters.”

36th Anniversary of Ada

“I worked to pass the Americans with Disabilities Act. I worked with many people. The bill was bipartisan. It is now 36 years old. The law helped a lot of people. We did many things to strengthen it. The ADA is supposed to prevent people with disabilities from being segregated. But the Department of Justice says the ADA does not guarantee a right to live and receive services in integrated settings. They say it only prohibits unnecessary institutionalization. That is absurd. We knew what we meant when we passed the law. The Department of Justice is wrong. This administration uses disability rights to undermine ballot access. They slash Medicaid funding that many disabled people rely on. We must remember the legislative intent of the ADA. It is about equal access, public accommodation, and integration. We cannot go back to before the ADA when disabled people were isolated. I am proud of the part I played.”

National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 2027

“I oppose this amendment. I want the U.S. to spend money in the Middle East. I want to give money to Israel and other U.S. allies. I want the U.S. to fight terrorist groups. I think the Middle East affects the U.S. I want the U.S. to be involved. I don't want to weaken the U.S. in the Middle East. I want the U.S. to be strong.”

“I don't like this bill. I want to send money and weapons to Ukraine. I want to look strong on the world stage. I want people to see that America sends a lot of support to its allies. I don't want people to think that America will ever back down.”

“I don't like this bill. It doesn't give money to Ukraine. I want more money for Ukraine's military. I want more sanctions on Russia. A Senator who supported Ukraine died. I want to honor him by sending more money and sanctions. I think Ukraine might win soon. This bill won't help Ukraine win.”
