Appointment Authority

The Senate considered a routine request to authorize Senate leaders, including the President pro tempore and the majority and minority leaders, to make appointments to commissions, committees, boards, conferences, and interparliamentary groups even while the Senate is adjourned. Senator Thune asked for the authorization by unanimous consent so appointments can continue during the break. No substantive debate on the request appears in the record sampled here.Written by AI from the debate. Updated .
