Mike Lee Republican
“Democrats oppose this rule because they want noncitizens to vote for them. This rule only stops people from voting if they are noncitizens and voting illegally.”
“They wouldn’t make that case if they were committed to the rule of law, and yet they have made the case. We have heard them do it. Some of them, on the floor of the U.S. Senate, have said: These are our voters. I don’t know whether that was a Freudian slip, but I have heard it made several times where they say: These are our voters who would be at stake here--and then they go on about disenfranchisement. This disenfranchises no one unless it is a noncitizen who is illegally voting based on a fraudulent voter registration.”
